Master Wickersham was born on November 20th, 1947 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.  He was raised in Sylacauga, Alabama and resided there until he joined the Navy at age 18.  He served on PBR's in River Division 515 in the Republic of South Viet Nam from April 1969 through April 1970.  Master Wickersham was wounded twice and decorated twice for valor.  He came home in May of 1970 to begin school at Auburn University.  He married Cynthia Elaine Edmunds on December 18th, 1971.  Working his way through college with the help of his wife, they were blessed with the birth of their first child, Khristina Marie in December, 1973.  Master Wickersham graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forest Management in June, 1974.  He moved his family to Jackson, Mississippi where they were blessed with their second child, Robert Calvin on January 14th, 1976.  Master Wickersham moved his family to Madison,Mississippi in September of 1979. He worked for a large consulting firm until November, 1991.  At that time, he started his own company, Wickersham Forestry Services, Inc., that he still runs today on Main Street in Madison.

His martial arts career began by accident in January, 1983 when he took his wife to a ceramics warehouse that was immediately adjacent to a martial arts school.  He took the phone number off the door and called the instructor who just happened to be a Viet Nam Vet himself, Master J.R. West.  They became close friends while training in Hapkido and Tae Kwon Do until June, 1997.  At that time, Master Wickersham and his best friend,Jimmy Busby, started their own martial arts school in Madison, Mississippi.  They named their school, Sunbi Martial Arts.  It was then that he became the direct student of Dr. He-Young Kimm after having been his student through Master West for over 14 years.  Master Wickersham now holds a 4th Dan in Hapkido, a 4th Dan in Tae Kwon Do, and a 5th Dan in Han Mu Do.
